"Before the batch of avocados arrived in Hong Kong, we used the customs-enterprise liaison mechanism to connect with importers in advance, grasp the arrival information, and implement customs clearance facilitation measures such as advance declaration and unaccompanied inspection, and open up green channels to ensure that the goods arrive at the port. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible." Luo Kaiming, chief of the tenth inspection department of Shanghai Overseas Port Customs, introduced that the customs clearance procedures for avocados after arriving in Hong Kong are strict. It is important to check whether there are quarantine pests such as Mediterranean fruit flies. After ensuring compliance with inspection and quarantine requirements, the batch of avocados was released smoothly that afternoon.

Kenya is the largest exporter of avocados in Africa. In January this year, China and Kenya signed the protocol for the export of Kenyan fresh avocados (avocados) to China. On June 1, the General Administration of Customs issued an announcement allowing Kenyan fresh avocados that meet the quarantine requirements to be exported to China. On July 27, a small batch of Kenyan fresh avocado samples entered through the Shanghai Pudong International Airport port and passed the customs inspection and quarantine.

According to the import phytosanitary requirements of China Customs, fresh avocados must be soaked, cleaned, brushed, picked and removed before export, and must not have branches, leaves, roots, soil, etc., to ensure that exported avocados do not carry Live pests. The importer of this batch of avocados is Shanghai Niuguo Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. Liu Mosu, the general manager of the company, revealed that after customs clearance, the avocados will be uniformly inspected and processed according to the strict standards of the enterprise, and it is expected to be sold in retail channels in early September. "At present, we have established cooperation with three large orchards in Kenya, and we plan to import 200 tons of avocados this year. With the experience and cooperation of this season, we will have a weekly import plan from next year, and the annual import volume is expected to exceed 9,000 tons. "
